Robert Claybrook, Micro Strategies’ Chief Technology Officer, provides strategic guidance to clients on effectively leveraging technology to drive organizational outcomes. He evaluates current IT trends, considers each client’s unique challenges, and makes recommendations with the aim of optimizing key business processes, fostering innovation, and ultimately creating market differentiation.
With over thirty years in the technology sector, including two decades in technology strategy for leading retail and distribution companies, Robert’s expertise extends beyond the digital realm. He has led teams, driven strategic initiatives, and consistently exceeded expectations. His proficiency encompasses not only traditional technology strategy but also the broader impacts of technology and its role within operations, finance, marketing, warehousing, e-commerce, call centers, business intelligence, and merchandising.
Before joining Micro Strategies in 2018, Robert served as the Chief Information Officer at Bed Bath & Beyond. During his tenure at the organization, he maintained an unwavering focus on harnessing technology to pioneer new business approaches ahead of the market curve. Notably, he spearheaded the global implementation of IT systems to support the company’s expansion efforts across North America. Robert’s commitment to delivering superior customer experiences was evident through his leadership in launching and evolving the company’s ecommerce platform. This platform seamlessly integrated with the in-store experience, ensuring a comprehensive product assortment for customers, regardless of wherever they chose to shop. Additionally, he successfully oversaw the integration of technology operations following the addition of nine businesses into the Bed Bath & Beyond portfolio.
Robert earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science with a minor in business from DeVry University.

Name an accomplishment or milestone in your career of which you’re proud.
During my tenure at Bed Bath & Beyond, I spearheaded the technology strategy for our expansion into the Canadian market. What makes this particularly rewarding is that we accomplished it seamlessly, without disrupting our existing business operations. Our expansion turned out to be a financial success, even during a period when another major retail chain made a similar, but unsuccessful attempt.

The dedication of our people and the passion they have for the work we do for our customers. I also appreciate the opportunity to work with the latest technology and deliver tangible results for our customers.
What do you like to do in your personal time?
I enjoy snow skiing, water skiing, wake surfing, golfing, and spending time with my family and friends.
